Hi,

I think it depends on the level of your spell casting characters. The Mage
shop would reflect this. The items at the shop are random and are changed
daily I think. I don't know the level of your characters - they may be too
weak or too strong. Another way I think is to earn them killing monsters of
a certain level.

Kra'an is immune to magic spells (at least those of attack). Thus, shadow of
death won't work. You can only inflict spell points using DragonBane. You
can use Near Foe and Beserk on him (though his guardians usually cast soul
shadow to negate this pretty quickly).
