2nd Time Through Advice w/ Spoilers or Re: Re: Dragon Price HELP!

Dear Dragon Bane 2 Forum,

Sweet

The first time I played Dragone Bane 2: "Return of Kra'an"
(DB2:MSRK), one of my original complaints was the found character
levels were too low. When UNGER joined, my party was 8th level.
When I found STONEFIELD CASTLE, my party was 16th level. When I
first fought KRA'AN I had an 18th level party with a 14th level back
up thief. Only later did I find out I was dramatically over prepared
for each map level. But since I had searched every map square of
every map level, it was worth it. I found lots of hidden treasure,
without the "reusable MAGIC MAP #1" cheat, and got every last drop of
enjoyment out of my $27.

On the second time through, if you like being over prepared, TALON
CLOISTER, SEWER 1, PRISON 2-3, GOBLIN PALACE, CRYPT 2-3, and TOWER 1-
4 are good places to get experience since you can find large groups
of monsters there. In my opinion, on your second time through, the
faster you get to the next map level, the faster your party will
advance in levels. New map levels mean new monsters worth more
experience points per monster. Since you already know where all the
treasure is, you don't need to search every map square to find it.

Doing research for my own adventure, I deliberately blew through
DB2:MSRK to write down all the treasure. Sometimes I had to fight
a "Boss Monster" twice, but one of the advantages to following the
walk-through is you can skip TOWER 1-4, go directly to the STONEFIELD
CASTLE, and get free experience. All the characters in STONEFIELD
CASTLE had twice the experience of my walk-through characters (who
only had 82,327 experience). I switched to the higher level
characters, then went back and cleaned out all the treasure in TOWER
1-4, getting lots of experience from all the GIANT COBRAS and LIZARD
WARRIORS. Also the more monsters you defeat in an encounter, the
better chances for found items when you loot the bodies, so I found
lots of loot after fighting 4 GIANT COBRAS or 6 LIZARD WARRIORS.

I then used RUN against most of the 1-2 unit groups in RAAMTHA'S
DUNGEON and KRA'AN'S LAIR 1-2 since they offer so little experience
for so much effort. The 2 GUARDIANS are dramatically under valued in
experience points for the amount of havoc they wreak on your party.
Better to just RUN.

During my treasure dash-through, I was able to beat KRA'AN with 15th
level characters and one 11th level THIEF.

Yes, I know, It should have been a 12th level THIEF with 82,327
experience points, but I forgot to promote him after I switched to
the 14th level characters in STONEFIELD CASTLE.

Sincerely yours,
NEFTF
