Hello everyone. I haven't been here for a long time. It's good to see
that we have a final date set. I might go to the one on July 12th but
I have no idea where Lombard is.
JAGFEST 2003 - THRIVING IN THE JUNGLE
For 2003 Jaguar fans have agreed to hold multiple JagFest events nationwide
to allow other fans the opportunity to attend during this historic tenth
anniversary of the release of the Jaguar by Atari Corporation.
JagFest 2003 "Thriving in the Jungle" will demonstrate the Jaguar is still
alive and kicking with numerous hobby game efforts underway nearly a decade
after the Jaguar's first release. Each event will feature demos of lost and
upcoming games, as well as one or more tournaments with prizes for some of
the best Jaguar games out there.
At this time, the following JagFest events have been established:
JagFest @ MWC
---------------------
When: June 7, 2003
Where: Milwaukee, WI
Lead Organizers: Dan Iacovelli
JagFest @ VGS
---------------------
When: July 12, 2003
Where: Lombard, IL
Lead Organizers: Dan Iacovelli
JagFest @ CGE
---------------------
When: August 9-10, 2003
Where: Las Vegas, NV
Lead Organizers: Carl Forhan and Scott Walters
There's no way these few organizers can accomplish a successful event alone.
We need fans to commit to attend to whichever shows they can. We need
equipment, unreleased games, demos of upcoming games, tournament prizes,
flyers, web pages, and more. If you're interested in organizing a JagFest event
in your region, or would like to assist with other established events, please
send a blank email to JagFest-subscribe@yahoogroups.com .
Long live the Jaguar!

Hello Fellow members(JCU and AVCIL),
Just like to tell you that I have updated the web site with the following:
Added a new page to Events site (the AVC/JCU 2003 US Tour page)
also added a brand new event to the events page AVC Presents The Video Game
Summit
Or VGS for short. This event started up as discussion on the Atari Age
Forums under the events topic
Subject :Chicago which was started by Inky. Originally this event was just
going be local people playing games
but as the discussion grew I figured the best thing to do is have some
local dealers come as well.
As of right now: we have a location being set up for Triton College's
Hillside Campus in Hillside ,IL
As for a date we are currently looking at either February or March when
everything becomes finalized
I'll put out a PR announcing the date and time. Until then be sure to sign
up to The VGS mailing list
if your interested in attending this new event( which can be found at the
2003 US Tour page).
The next issue of the Atari Zone Fanzine should be done soon.
thank you

Them's is good prices, I have to say. Do you know what size of
room
we're looking at as well?
Inky, I'm going to send a letter to my insurance agent sometime this
week
to ask about that. the thing I'm worried about is that I don't think I'm
covered
with them(my health is covered by the union I work for. that why I
figured on
writing a letter to agent to find if I can get it.)
as for room size: I'm going be setting up a yahoo group soon to see how
many people are series about coming. I figure a room that will fit about
40+ people
would be good.

I got the following information from the person I talked to
in charge of the room rentals and too me it sounds real good:
"In-district fees are:
Non-Profit $25 per day
Profit $100 per day
The Certificate of Insurance is purchased through your insurance company.
It needs to name Triton College, District No.504, Triton College Trustees,
and Triton College employees as an additional insured with minimum limits
of $1,000,000 bodily and $1,000,000 property damager per occurence and in
the aggregate."
now the prices sounds good to me,
I'm not sure about the certificate of insurance though I'll have to contact my
insurance company to find out about that see if there is a small fee for that

I know I stated before that a Saturday before thanks giving would be good for
this event, then I figured that it might be tough for others since it might be
hard because of the holidays and the weather (it's close to winter and it does
snow in November here in IL) I would figure that we would postpone the possible
event until February this way I could contact some local game shops to see if
they could help out(orginally this was going be just a bunch of people playing
games but it would be better if we could a few local dealers to come).
let me know what you think.

(inky,if you read this,do you remember the Post card ads mars used to do for
their swap meets? I kind liked the idea they had for addmission fees it might
work for the gathering)

hello fellow AVCIL members:
Just like to inform that I just got an reply (finally) from Triton college.
here is what they sent me:
"We do rent out our facilities. Our policy is at
least one month prior to the vent. I would need to know the dates, times
and amount of people. We also require a Certificate of Insurance. Our rates
vary -- in-district, out-of-district, profit and non-profit organizations "
So all need to know is date to give her (I figure sometime in November before
Thanks giving would be good)
unless you have other dates. as for the rates I figure to go for in-district
(for two reasons, 1. I live in district
of triton college and 2. if we go for non-profit I would need some kind of
proof for that I think(I'll prob ask about that
though just in case)) the time will most likely be around after noon(12:30 or
1pm sounds good to me)
for # of people I'm hoping for a least 20 (I'll prob. tell them 15 though,
this way we will be able to get a small class
room with room to hook our games (unless you have any other ideas))
the main problem is the insurance thing, anybody know what that is Certificate
of Insurance?
if we don't have that then it's back to drawing board.

Also depends on if I could get ride there(not really worth taking a train

Inky,
don't sweat on what you can or can bring yet?
as of yet I haven't heard back from triton college
(I have contacted the them again (the person in charge of the scheduling for
the college when I hear back from her I will let you and everybody else know)
if we do get this going though I will try to bring two systems (key word here
is try read on and you'll find out): my 2600 I would to use it to run the
supercharger games I have on the stella CDv2(I have a cd player at home just
need batereies) plus I would to show off the two home brew games I got at cge
(space treat and warring worms) I have two 7800 dead in the water right now but
I have an extra 7800 controller I can bring)
the system I do really want to bring which might cancel me out bringing the
2600
is the Jaguar, reason is so I can get a Battlesphere net going(I got a jaglink
now so I can at least do a two player thing as well a doom death match)
the bad news I won't be able to bring a tv(well I can but it's small and it's
not any good)
like I said though if I we get triton then I'll try to get it set up for a good
date if not it's wait til next yaer unless we do it at somebody house in their
basement.
